One Last Ride – Goodbye Charlene

One last bitter-sweet ride for Charlene and I. On March 16, 2016 I hooked up Charlene to my truck for one last ride. It would be the longest ride of our 2+ year relationship. I made the tough decision to let her go and trade her in for another boat.

It was a bitter sweet moment but much more bitter than sweet. My Nitro Z6 and I had been through so much together. She helped me learn how to catch fish. She helped me win some tournaments. She helped me become a better angler.

But in the end it was time for me to move forward with my career as a bass angler… and in order for me to do that I had to obtain a boat that was bigger, faster and had more of the features I need to be a better angler.

Charlene and I made one final ride 500 miles north to Bloomsburg Pennsylvania where I traded her in at Towne Marine. I remember unhooking her for the last time and looking at her in my rear-view mirror as I pulled away. It might seem silly… but it was an emotional moment.

I hope the next person that gets her takes good care of her. I’m sure she’ll help them catch many fish and take care of them on the water.
